For Brigitte Losey, the stage wasn’t just an extracurricular—it was a calling. Inspired by her older sister Heather, she grew up waiting for her chance to join Woodside High School (WHS) Drama. The moment she did, she threw herself into every opportunity the program offered, both onstage and behind the scenes.

At WHS, Brigitte performed in musicals like Footloose (2008), Smokey Joe’s Café, Curtains, and Once on This Island. She also explored stage management, lighting design, and even directing. That breadth of experience gave her a rare perspective on what it takes to bring a show to life. “Barry gave us structure, but he also let us follow our curiosity,” she remembers. “If you were interested in something, he’d say, ‘Great—go figure out how to do it.’ That kind of encouragement built confidence and helped us grow.”

Finding Her Place and Her Voice Within the Vibrant Regional Theater Scene

That confidence carried her to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where she studied theater and deepened her skills across performance, design, and production. But it was back in the San Francisco Bay Area where Brigitte truly came into her own.

Since returning, she has become an integral part of the region’s vibrant theater scene, performing with companies like TheaterWorks, Hillbarn Theatre, Palo Alto Players, San Jose Stage, and Ray of Light. She’s taken on challenging roles in shows like Heathers and Sondheim’s Assassins, and stepped into new work as part of the world premiere of a play by Bay Area playwright Jeffrey Lo.

Through each production, Brigitte has not only grown as an artist but also contributed to the thriving Bay Area theater community—proving that the foundation built at Woodside can lead to lasting impact on and off the stage. “Theater gave me confidence, initiative, and lifelong friends,” she says. “Woodside was where I found my voice, and I’ll always be grateful for that.”
